Looking for a great dog treat? Vegetarian treats make a nice variation in a dogs diet.
A dog is able to healthily digest a variety of foods including vegetables and grains, and in fact requires a proportion of these in its diet. And many dogs live happily and healthily on a totally vegetarian or vegan diet.
But what are good treats to choose? Here are my reviews of vegetarian dog treats.
When you are looking for vegetarian treats for dogs, then you are looking for healthy, natural products – avoid those filled with preservatives and other nasties.
As well as the products below, try making your own vegetarian dog treats.
Sams Yams are Made of thick slabs of sweet potato – so are great for dogs with food allergies. The chews have a hard surface, excellent for dental health, and a chewability that dogs love.
They make a nice treat, but are too big to use for training treats. But they make a good replacement to rawhide and tendon chews.
Pet Guard do several flavors of vegetarian snacks – Mr. Barky’s dog biscuits being one of them. This one contains wheat, so not good for dogs with allergies – but Mr. Pugsley’s peanut butter biscuits use quinoa instead of wheat.
The treats are quite big (good for large dogs), but are easy to break into pieces for smaller dogs.
Fruitables come in lots of flavors, the one shown here being All-Natural Pumpkin & Banana Dog Treats.
The snacks are free of wheat, corn, soy, by-products, artificial ingredients and preservatives – a good natural treat. They are quite small – but easy to break into even more pieces if you are using them for training.Go to Crazycrumb Dog Treats Home from Dog Treat Vegetarian
