If you don’t want to use baked beans for this recipe, you could substitute chickpeas or pumpkin, both of which are very good for dogs. The carrot can be replaced by any grated vegetable (butternut squash is good).

Supplements

Adding supplements to your raw dog food recipes will help to keep your pet in good shape.

Powder Supplement

  • 1 cup brewers yeast.
  • 1 cup bonemeal.
  • 1/2 cup kelp powder
  • 1/2 cup alfalfa powder

Mix together and store in either an air-tight container or the freezer. Add one tablespoon of the powder to your dogs food each day.

Oil Supplement

  • 1/4 cup olive oil.
  • 1/4 cup canola oil.
  • 1/4 cup cod liver oil.
  • 1/4 cup flaxseed oil.

Mix together and store in the fridge – preferable in a dark bottle. You can use up to two teaspoons per day on your dogs food.

Dog Treats

Even on a raw dog food diet, it is still nice for dogs to get treats. If is not safe to use raw meat for this – but there are still lots of options. Try these raw treat ideas.
